DESCRIPTION: The starting point of this walk is in the jungle and continues to climb up the Andes jungle. This route is very rarely visited by tourists, but it offers great natural and cultural attractions. It also presents a variety of flora, fauna, mountains with snow, breathtaking valleys;at the same timewe are going to visit the last legion of the Incas “Vilcabamba” and its archaeological sites. Exploring the path of Inka we will continue the journey back to the impressive archaeological site of Machu Picchu.
* Note: We need a minimum of three people to book the tour.
DAY 1: Cusco – Quillabamba – Huancacalle – Rosaspata
Very early we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and head towards the town of Quillabamba, tropical place that presents temperatures ranging between 25-30 Cº, after a short break we continue our journey to the town of Huancacalle, where we will our first contact with the horseman and then begin the guided tour in the archaeological site of Vitcus – Rosaspata.
DAY 2: Rosaspata – Ñusta Hispana – Raqachaqa
Very early after enjoying our delicious breakfast, we will start our expedition visiting the archaeological site of Ñusta Hispana, and then continue with destiny to the Andes, from where we will appreciate the deep valleys of the jungle and the impressive string of snow. After the visit we will continue our trek where we cross the pass of “Hasutina Moqo” located at 4600m and descend to a place known as Raqachaqa where we camp; lunch and dinner.
DAY 3: Raqachaqa – Mutuypata
After our breakfast, we continue our trek to Mutuypata. In this way we can see beautiful glaciers, lakes, mountain ranges, variety of flora and fauna and we can also see the Machupicchu and Salkantay snowcapped; finally lunch and dinner.
DAY 4: Mutuypata – Yanatile – Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes
This day we will get up very early to have breakfast and start our descent to the rainforest of Yanatile; in this way we will observe variety of wild plants such as bromeliads, mosses, ferns, orchids and variety of trees. It is also possible to see the famous cock of the rock; continuing our descent we will arrive to the agricultural fields where we will see coffee plantations, cacao, avocado, passion fruit and the famous coca leaf. After the respective explanation we continue to Yanatile, where we will have lunch and then board public transport towards Santa Teresa and then to the Hydroelectric. Finally we take the train to take us to Aguas Calientes, where we spend the night in a hotel.
DAY 5: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Cusco
After an early-morning breakfast the next morning, we will take the bus to Machu Picchu, where your guide will give you a thorough three-hour tour. After your tour, you will have some downtime to explore the site on your own or free time to climb the Huayna Picchu Mountain (if you reserve your ticket in advance),before taking the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where we will have our last meal together. From there, we will send you on the train back to Cusco.
