DESCRIPTION: The Southern Cusco offer us challenges to overcome the 5000 meters high with panoramic views of pristine lagoons, for this trek we recommend that the participant practice walking three hours a day before arriving at Cuzco, because this is an expedition where you are going to walk between 7 to 8 hours per day, so you will need a lot of physical effort.

During the trip we can see Andean animals such as llamas, vizcachas, alpacas and vicunas in droves, we will contact Quechua-speaking Andean people getting to know their customs and their religion, economy and way of life in the Andes; it is an encounter with the Apu (mountain considered as the god of the Andean people).

Acclimatization: It is essential that you are well acclimatized to the altitude before beginning the hike. If you are arriving from sea level, plan on spending at least 3 days in Cusco and the surrounding area before starting

* Note: We need a minimum of three people to book the tour.

DAY 1: Cusco- Tinki

Very early we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco in our private transport to go until TINQUI community where we will start our hike to Apu Ausangate. This first day will serve us to acclimatize before continuing; lunch and dinner.

DAY 2: Tinqui – Upis

After breakfast, we start walking toward the hot springs of Upis where we camp. In this way we interact with local families who taught us part of their daily activities; also we appreciate llamas, alpacas, chinchillas. Already in the camp appreciate small active volcanoes and minerals such as gold, copper are built on the place rocks; lunch and dinner.

DAY 3: Upis – Quinsacocha

This day will start walking uphill to reach Quinsacocha, where we spend the night. On the way appreciate lagoons of different colors and ducks inhabiting them and small gulls, also we will have a panoramic view of the Ausangate; breakfast, lunch and dinner.

DAY 4: Quinsacocha – Pampacahua – Jampa

This day will be one of the most stressful, as we cross a pass located very close to Ausangate Mountain with an altitude of 4000 meters. We enjoy beautiful landscapes between lakes, peaks, mountains and valleys. Our last camp will be in a place called Jampa, where we will also visit the families in the area who currently continue wearing traditional dress; also we can appreciate the practice of artisanal fisheries.

DAY 5: Jampa – Pacchanta – Cusco

After our last breakfast, we start walking downhill to reach Pachanta, where we will enjoy the thermal baths and then continue down to Tinqui, where we were waiting for our private transport to return to Cusco.
